Prof. XIE was a Lecturer in Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST,
China), a FRST Post-doctoral Fellow in the University of Canterbury (New
Zealand), a Lecturer, senior Lecturer, an Associate Professor and Professor
in the University of Auckland (New Zealand). In the last few years, he has been
engaged in the following funded R&D (Research & Development)
projects.

Medical robotics, Assistive and
rehabilitation robots, Parallel robot, Robotic hands, Image-guided robots
for long bone surgery

Smart sensors, actuators, bio-sensors
and actuators, and micro-machining methods and systems

Intelligent mechatronics systems, high speed,
high precision, computer-controlled motion control systems, computer
controlled industrial automation systems, computer software and hardware
systems.

Intelligent control system design,
fuzzy logic control, sliding mode control and auto tuning using IFT

Multi-axis CNC system design including
Multi-axis laser-cutting and three-axis CNC systems design, Laser and pneumatic marking computer
