Thermodynamics Laboratory Research Teaching

Thermodynamics Thermodynamics Laboratory
The Thermodynamics Laboratory covers a wide range of interests in the areas of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering associated with energy use and efficiency. The overall aim of the Laboratory is to investigate and develop innovative and practical solutions to problems in thermodynamics and heat transfer. The Laboratory houses undergraduate experiments in air conditioning, heat transfer, internal combustion engines and refrigeration as well as research equipment used by postgraduates and research staff. Major experimental facilities include an environmental chamber, engine dynamometers, exhaust emissions analysers, a vehicle research facility (VRF).

The laboratory is home to the Energy and Fuels Research Unit  and the Temperature Calibration Laboratory
During the final year of the undergraduate degree, students can specialise in courses associated with the Thermodynamics Laboratory and undertake final year projects in the laboratory.
